Christmas Trees

Christmas Trees. All around the world, when the word Christmas is mentioned the first thing that rushes to mind is a green conical tree draped with red and shiny things and presents underneath.

Thus, the Christmas Tree is a powerful symbol of the Christmas tradition.

Origins of the Christmas Tree

A Christmas tree is an ornamented tree, prior to modern times it used to be mostly evergreen conifers like The spruce, pine and firs plants, nowadays a plastic synthetic likeness has come to be associated with the celebration of Christmas,

The practice of keeping specially groomed trees for the purpose of Christmas can be traced back to early Eastern Europe and it’s germanic roots, the practice can be traced as far back as the Yule pagan celebrations such as the Yule Log were whole trees were selected and cut down specifically for these celebrations and set alight‼‼.

Today we no longer burn up our Christmas trees, first we replaced the actual burning of the tree by draping it in little colored candles and stored the trees for future use just like the Yule-Log, and when electricity was discovered it allowed us to use Christmas lights in place,

In antiquity, the trees were traditionally decorated with “color paper roses, red apples, wafers, tinsel and sweetmeats” and Nativity scenes. But today, there is a wide assortment of traditional ornaments, such as garlands, tinsel, and candy canes with the addition of an angel or star on top to represent the Angel Gabriel or the Star of Bethlehem, respectively, from the Nativity scenes.

While Christians use it as a sign of everlasting life with God.
